Letter of EUROCONTROL Director General after his visit to SMATSA LLC

30.03.2014

Dear Mr Rovčanin, dear Radojica,

I would like to thank you very much for the kind hospitality you extended to me during my mission in Belgrade on 14-15 July 2014. I very much appreciated the pleasant atmosphere, the professional assistance and the excellent organization of the meeting.

My visit to Serbia resulted in a number of very important discussions, including those on Centralised Services (CS). I appreciate you interest in CS and would like to thank you for your application for the CFI process. I would like to draw once more attention that SMATSA needs to ensure the necessary political support to sign the consortium agreement for CFT and the declaration for the Joint Venture.

In this regard, I have sent a letter to your Minister of Transport, Construction and Infrastructure.

Let me remind you that at least one ANSP from an EU Member State needs to be involved in the consortium, which should be based on common interest and on geographical balancing and not necessarily on geographical proximity.

Furthermore, I reconfirm that all necessary support will be provided from our side concerning the CS development process.

I am also pleased that the situation concerning KFOR sector has been resolved conveniently and am confident that we will likewise resolve the one of the lower airspace in the future.

In addition, EUROCONTROL supports Serbia’s initiative in carrying out a feasibility study on FABs. The Agency is happy to give you professional advice on this matter.

Finally, I would like to thank you for the tour of the ACC, which provided me with a much more thorough understanding of the processes and procedures used in your country.

I strongly believe that my visit to Belgrade will strengthen our cooperation in the area of ATM and will bear fruit in the very near future.

Yours sincerely,

Frank Brenner,

Director General
