Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services SMATSA LLC (SMATSA LLC) CEO, Mr. Radojica Rovčanin, has announced today that the Company has implemented measures to save the budgetary funds and has pointed out that the people who travel by air are safe. During his appearance in the Morning program of TV Pink, Mr. Rovčanin said that he has suspended the use of Company cars by administrative staff, and that cash cards for the representational costs and daily allowances for the business trips within the country are no longer issued to the employees. “I wanted to show by personal example that we can behave in a socially responsible manner and respect Government measures and decisions,” pointed out Mr. Rovčanin. He said that there was a linear reduction of the salaries in SMATSA LLC and that these funds were used to help a hospital in Valjevo, a clinic at Zvezdara, the medical center in Tiršova street, as well as to buy books for the residents of Kosovo and Metohia, and to assist six soup kitchens in Kosovo and Metohia. Mr. Rovčanin added that the project of purchase and donation of the Gamma Knife to the Clinical Center of Serbia has been initiated with the support of Mr. Zlatibor Lončar, the Minister of Health. He pointed out that the process and the negotiations on the opening of the upper parts of the airspace over Kosovo and Metohia for civil air traffic started in 2012. Mr. Rovčanin added that it is a process of rapprochement between Pristina and Belgrade in the context of the overall negotiations in Brussels on normalization of the relations.

Mr. Radojica Rovčanin said that Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services SMATSA LLC (SMATSA LLC) is responsible for providing ATC services above the Southern Adriatic, the whole of Montenegro, the entire Serbia and 55 percent of the upper airspace of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Mr. Rovčanin added that air traffic is in expansion and that Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services SMATSA LLC provides its services to approximately 550,000 commercial flights per year.

He passed a message to the citizens who travel by plane and to those who are potentially afraid of flying that they are in good hands, because air traffic controllers and pilots are well-educated, professional and very capable.
