On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of its establishment and the commencement of work, the Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia gave Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services SMATSA LLC a plaque for successful cooperation. On that occasion, Mr Radojica Rovčanin, SMATSA LLC CEO, in his statement to Tanjug News Agency said that Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services SMATSA LLC will have realized more than half a million flights by the end of the year. “Compared to the year 2013, it will represent an increase in air traffic by 5.32 percent. How dense the air traffic above us is, can be represented by the fact that in 1960s we had only 370 aircraft per year”, recalled Mr. Rovčanin. “In August this year SMATSA LLC performed its maximum of 185 commercial aircraft in an hour, or 2,620 aircraft just in one day”, Mr. Rovčanin stated and added that in August, a number of 69, 856 flights was successfully realiised.

Stating that, by all indicators, this year has been a very successful one for SMATSA LLC, Mr. Rovčanin pointed out that SMATSA LLC is a stable air navigation services provider, the evidence for which is that there are no delays in the area of jurisdiction of this company.

The modernisation of the technical equipment and systems has also been carried out during the course of this year, and SMATSA LLC employs competent personnel, not only for the provision of the air traffic control services and the telecommunication, navigation and surveillance services, but also for pilot and ATCO training.

Mr. Rovčanin also announced two major investments – building of two control towers in Belgrade and Tivat, total value of around 10 million euros, which will be not only masterpiece of architecture but also the latest achievement in the world of technology. Mr. Rovčanin pointed out that: “The most important thing is that we do not take even one dinar from the budget but at the same time we pay in significant financial means into the budget of the two states for different purposes and in that way we do our business as very responsible company.
