The record number of overflights in July

07.06.2013

By the end of the day, 2,400 passenger aircraft will have flown over our region, which will be the record number of overflights in this month. More than 160 flights have already been recorded in the peak hour. Further increase in air traffic is expected over the weekends to come. During August there will be over 2,500 aeroplanes in one day, that is, more than 180 aircraft in the peak hours. The number of VFR flights conducted by smaller aircraft at lower altitudes and the number of military traffic operations should be added to these figures. Increased anti-hail protection activities that are expected in central Serbia in the afternoon hours due to local cloudiness development, will be coordinated with Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services SMATSA llc and will not affect the scheduled passenger traffic.

SMATSA llc provides air traffic control services in the airspace over Serbia and Montenegro, in a part of the airspace over the Adriatic Sea, and in 55 per cent of the upper airspace over BiH.
