Minister of Communications and Transport, Mr Damir Hadzic, has led the delegation, who, he says, have completely convinced themselves, today in Belgrade that SMATSA Llc is the most modern ANSP in the region. He has further announced the continuation of their personnel training in Serbia aiming to takeover of independent air traffic control over the airspace of Bosnia and Herzegovina next year.

Minister of Transport of the Republic of Serbia, Mr Aleksandar Antic, has said that Serbia has one of the most modern ANSPs in Europe, and definitely the most modern one in the region. Serbia has succeeded in coming most closely to European standards in this field, which, he stressed, has been certified by numerous commendations and primarily by Eurocontrol. Mr Antic has said that Eurocontrol, “which we are part of, has several times proclaimed SMATSA Llc as one of the best, and last year SMATSA Llc was the second ranked for safety in Europe.” He has said that there is a plenty of room to increase the cooperation between Serbia and Bosnia, and we should, as much as possible, develop the regional projects. “Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina can realize joint projects in the field of the reconstruction of roads, particularly in the development of the railway infrastructure,” Mr Antic has added.

Mr Hadzic has said that 27 students from Bosnia are currently being trained at SMATSA Llc, and has announced that more students will be trained in the coming period of time. He pointed out that he has convinced himself that SMATSA Llc is the most advanced ANSP in the region and has at its disposal all necessary technology and personnel capacity.

In 2014, BiH should take over the control of their airspace.

Acting Director of SMATSA Llc, Mr Slobodan Cvijan, said that SMATSA Llc, currently controls 55 percent of the upper airspace of Bosnia and Herzegovina, while Croatia controls the remainder of the upper part and the entire lower part of the airspace over Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mr Cvijan stressed that SMATSA shall continue helping the colleagues from BiH with the organization of airspace, definition of operational procedures and safety assessment, as well as with testing and integration of technology systems.
